BREAKING) MONSANTO ROUNDUP CAUSES CANCER – US COURTS (SEE DETAILS)!
At the quarterly press briefing of the Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (ACMPN), Owerri Archdiocese, on Monday 23rdAugust, 2018, informed Nigerians on the more than 500 lawsuits (multidistrict lead case 3:16-md-02741-VC) pending against Monsanto Co. in United State District Court in San Francisco, filed by people alleging that exposure to Roundup (Glysophate) herbicide caused them or their loved ones to develop CANCER
non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and that Monsanto covered up the risks. The weed killer is sold under the trade name Roundup in Nigeria. Monsanto tried to hide its internal records and communications sealed from public view but the judge has allowed many to be made part of the public record, and these “Monsanto Papers” are contained within the records below.
Approximately 4,000-5,000 other plaintiffs have made similar claims against Monsanto in U.S. state courts. In the Superior Court for the County of San Francisco the first trial in the Roundup litigation started on 18th June 18, 2018. The trial concluded on 10th August 2018, with the jury ordering Monsanto to pay $289.25 million in damages, including $250 million in punitive damages. The conclusions on the cases were as follows:
· 10th August 2018: The jury ruled in findings against Monsanto, that Monsanto’s weedkiller was a substantial contributing factor in causing DeWayne “Lee” Johnson’s cancer. Link to video of the reading of the verdict in San Francisco.
· 5th to 9th March, 2018: Daubert hearings held at U.S. District Court in San Francisco – see live blog reporting from “Science Week” by Carey Gillam, links to video of hearings and transcript of oral arguments.
· October 11, 2017: Carey Gillam’s remarks to European Parliament joint committee hearing.
The ACMPN calls on Nigerian farmers and all others who have health problems related to use of Monsanto Roundup to work with their doctors and lawyers to bring forth these matters in the same way it is being addressed in the courts in the United States of America. The ACMPN also cautions all Federal and State agencies involved in the promotion of Monsanto Roundup and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) crops that they could be found culpable in any suits in Nigeria that is related to health hazards posed by Roundup and GMOs.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In God we trust to keep us safe.

Academician Dr Philip C. Njemanze MD ACMPN Committee Chair
