Dremo needs no introduction. Though a new sensation / rookie in the game, he is the next best thing by popular opinion with a couple of hit singles and a winning team behind him (DMW). After much anticipation and hype the DMW star has released his latest single alonside the imagery shot by video director Clarence Peters. Clarence's creative impulse and ingenuity status within the music industry is in no doubt and with many top notch videos under his belt his pedrigree is fast soaring across the African continent.
The beginning of the video which is reminiscent of Erigga's “Coporate” – except for a different kind of color approach, strikes a strong chord: Both videos where shot by the same man. The video’s colorful imagery and picnic outlook depicts youthfulness, new school and flamboyance. Watching the video though strikes a nostalgic chord as you are taken down memory lane and you remember you've seen this somewhere before.
The entire video tells nothing and is rather unspectacular. We see a vibrant dremo; A youngman feeling himself and enjoying life with lots of girls at different scenes. First there is the Dremo on a beach with Bikini wearing girls surrounding the singer. Clarence Uses a lot of colors here and there to divert the viewers mind from looking inwards and rather vaguely feeling wide eyed. The multi colors and divided pictures takes one back to Ice Prince's "Trillions". That scene ushers us into the sporting Dremo. Portraying a referee, the scene shows a host of girls playing football with Dremo in their midst as the randy referee.
3:52 minutes of merry making, balling , exotic girls and classic outfits brings the video alive. Dremo, an ambassador of the Nigerian urban new school rightly nails this one with his attitude and vibrancy giving the video a kind of synergy. The Video ends with a familiar scene though. Clarence uses same closing scene on Erigga's "Coporate" as the final imagery. Not prone towards the negative but I was hoping to see Clarence employ a new kind of finery and unique delivery as seen on Dremo's "Ojere".
“Iro Nla” is a song that is sure to be a club anthem because of it's groovy feel but the video shows nothing worth remembering.
